A spanish turn is when you want to turn left on a road but where you first need to take a right turn in order to then cross the road where you just drove on. These spanish turns usually occur when it’s not possible or is too dangerous to turn left on that road, so the purpose of these turns is to reduce risky turns. Keep in mind that the ’Spanish turn’ is not officially the name of this turn but it’s used in many driving licence books and people use this name often to indicate this type of turn.
