A dangerous situation can arise at any time. Therefore you must be focused at all times while driving and ready to act to avoid a possible dangerous situation. This however doesn’t mean that you should have your foot above the brake at all times, and also not that you should assess every situation as dangerous. But it does mean that you should be prepared to take action when you suspect that a dangerous situation is about to occur. This is sometimes also referred to as preparedness, in traffic context.
