The parking brake (or ’handbrake’) prevents the car from rolling when parking. This brake is a separate system from the brakes that you use when braking while driving and it only affects the car’s rear wheels. The parking brake works by pulling up the handle of the parking brake, and if there is a problem with the parking brake, a warning light will lit on the dashboard.
