Vehicle tax is the tax that you pay to the Swedish Transport Agency (Transportstyrelsen) so that you may drive your car on public roads. How much the tax is depends on the car’s fuel and how high the carbon dioxide emissions are. When you deregisteryour car you do not have to pay the vehicle tax, if you´re not using it, but then it may not be driven on a public road during the time it is deregistered.
