ESP system (Electronic Stability Program)

An ESP system (or Electronic Stability Program) is a system that contributes to the car's stability, and thus safety. This system helps the driver avoid skidding by braking the wheels, because the system recognizes when a driver does not have control over the vehicle. ESP systems can not only reduce accidents on slippery road conditions, but also accidents that can happen on ordinary road conditions (that means when, for example, it doesn’t rain or at tempratures below zero degrees). However, do not associate this system with a so-called anti-spin system as that is a simpler system that only increases the stability of the car by lowering the engine power when a wheel spin occurs.
